Recording artist Simon Power is responding to the Covid-19 pandemic in a unique way and touching way- offering a personal memorium song and video for bereaved families

In these very tough times it’s hard to know how to help. Big Jam Studios recorded artist Simon Power, who has been working and song-writing in retirement communities for more than 15 years, was moved by the added distress of being unable to gather to celebrate the lives of loved ones who had passed away.

Simon remembers – “I lost my mother while I was working away and I could not imagine the pain of not being able to travel for her funeral – in all this chaos I thought – well there is one thing  I could help in that one small way”

Working with Kevin, our head producer, Simon chose the haunting and popular Scottish ayre “The Parting Glass” as the base of the piece and integrating a beautifully written and arranged theme from The Ronnie Seiler String quartet. The combination allows for customised words to be added, enabling family members to be part of the remembrance. Our video team produced a video showing both Simon’s emotive performance and personal photographs which is key to the whole project, allowing families to add their own pictures and memories.

Being able to personalise the video makes for a touching and classy tribute to those who have tragically lost their lives over the past year.

The most heart-warming part is – Simon provides this service free of charge.
